Originating from the island of Capraia in Italy, and now found in tended gardens the world over, Dusty Miller has long been used as a decorative accent with its white color in vivid contrast with nearby green plants. This particular example was merely one of dozens, contrasting with nothing but itself as the early morning sun gently accented its soft gray fuzz with subtle warm highlights. Though the single errant begonia leaf provides a vivid spot of color against the grey background, the real contrast comes from the various levels of light and shadow to be found among its layered leaves. Narrowing the perspective of this image allows the viewer to concentrate on nature’s underlying patterns, and wonder about what might be hiding under each shadowy leaf.
Beartown Road Design strives to support small-business production partners, domestically where available, and locally if possible, with the goal of minimizing environmental externalities both with materials used and those associated with long-distance shipping. Coordination and set-up of our puzzles are performed by a woman-owned and operated company in Florida, and printed and die-cut in Indiana. Puzzles and boxes are made from 100% recycled cardboard, and are currently available as 1000-piece sets, finished size 26 5/8” x 19.1/4”
