Ann Arbor, Michigan

Finished in 1938, the Horace H. Rackham Building was designed by William E. Kapp of the Detroit architectural firm of Smith, Hinchman & Grylls.  The building was designed in an era when the architect was able to design, or directly supervise the design of, literally every aspect of the building’s details, from the floor pan and exterior look down to the colors, carpets, furniture, and even door knobs.
