Positioned on a small headland jutting into the bay of Reykjavík, Iceland and against the impressive backdrop of Mount Esja,, the iconic sculpture known as Sun Voyager (Icelandic: Sólfar) catches the rays of the setting sun, creating a dramatic play of light and shadow. Designed to be a part of the celebration to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the city of Reykjavík in 1990, it is constructed of quality stainless steel and stands on a circle of granite slabs.
